Crane Inspector Training & Certification
ABS-Class Crane Inspector Training blends theory with live pedestal-crane walkthroughs to build API 2C/2D inspection competence, covering design, hydraulics, electrics and structural checks so graduates can spot faults early and prevent offshore crane accidents.
Purpose
This certification programme enables QA/QC personnel and regulators to verify crane integrity and reduce accident risk. Guided by an experienced instructor, participants learn to interpret API Spec 2C and RP 2D, evaluate load charts, identify structurally critical components, apply basic NDE, review maintenance records, and conduct safe emergency-load-lowering drills. Successful completion, via written and practical exams, confirms the ability to plan, execute and document comprehensive crane inspections for class, flag-state and company compliance.

General & Structural – API scope, load-chart use, safety factors, critical inspection zones, NDE basics, records management, boom inspection, prime movers, safety systems.

Hydraulic Systems – Fluid power principles, pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, hoses, schematics, luffing gear, emergency hydraulic load lowering.

Electrical Systems – Symbols, motors, control panels, swing-limit switches, wiring checks, electrical emergency procedures.
