Maintenance Supervisor / Chief Mechanic (MS)
Liberia-approved Maintenance Supervisor / Chief Mechanic course prepares engineering-background rig personnel to operate, troubleshoot and maintain power plants, auxiliary machinery and safety systems on jack-ups, semisubs and construction barges, fulfilling IMO A.1079(28) competency standards.
Purpose
The programme equips mid-level offshore engineers to assume the senior mechanical role on non-propelled Mobile Offshore Units (MOUs). Through classroom study, simulator cases and workshop practice it builds the knowledge and leadership skills needed to:
-
Plan and oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance of diesel generators, drilling equipment and auxiliary systems.
-
Detect malfunctions early, coordinate repairs, and restore critical machinery after failures.
-
Manage fire-detection, safety and pollution-prevention equipment in line with flag-state and class requirements.
Successful candidates earn a Liberia (LISCR) Certificate of Proficiency recognised worldwide for life-of-rig service.
